Dr. Azza Dirar
Chair of Trustees
I have a PhD from the School of International Development at the University of East Anglia. My research analysed the land politics of dam displacement in Northern Sudan. I also hold an MSc in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security and a BA in International Development from the University of East Anglia.
I am currently employed by Norfolk and Waveney Mind (the mental health charity) as project coordinator on the ‘Sustain project’, providing support for eco-anxiety and climate grief among adults and young people. The project includes a co-designed and co-facilitated six-week Active Hope and Mindfulness Course for university and school students.
I have facilitated various “Work that Reconnects” workshops based on the work of Joanna Macy over the past four years, including in the blue zone of COP 26 in Glasgow. I am deeply interested in the dialectic between personal and societal transformation and have facilitated and participated in numerous workshops, activities, and events exploring this theme.
